Terms of Service
Last updated October 22, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and SakeSake ("SakeSake", "we", "us") about your use of the SakeSake app and the sakesake.app website (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. Who can use SakeSake
You must be of legal drinking age where you live (21 in the United States) and able to agree to these terms. One account per person, please. You're responsible for keeping access to your sign-in method secure and for activity on your account.
2. Drink responsibly
SakeSake is for information and enjoyment. Never drink and drive, follow the laws where you are, and drink in moderation. Nothing in the Service is medical, health or legal advice, and recommendations are not a suggestion to drink more.
3. About the information in the app
Bottle details, flavor descriptions, label explanations and recommendations come from public sources, from people using the app, and from automated tools, including AI. They're our best effort but can be incomplete or wrong; for example, a label may be matched to the wrong bottle, or a flavor described differently from how you taste it. Always check the bottle itself before relying on a detail such as allergens, alcohol content or price. Results from AI features (such as Deep ID) may be inaccurate.
4. Your content
You own what you put into SakeSake: your logs, ratings, notes and photos. You give us a license to store, process and display that content so we can run the Service for you, for example to show your log and calculate your picks. Your log is private unless we offer, and you choose, a way to share it.
When you contribute to the shared catalog, such as adding a bottle, confirming a barcode, scanning a label or reporting a problem, you give us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, edit and display that information as part of the catalog. Contributions are shown without your name.
Please only add content you have the right to share, and don't upload photos of other people without their permission.
5. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the Service. In particular, don't:
- break the law, or use the Service to promote alcohol to minors;
- add false, offensive or spam entries to the catalog;
- scrape, copy or resell the catalog, or access the Service by automated means except as we allow;
- try to get around limits such as the monthly Deep ID allowance, or interfere with the Service's security or operation;
- reverse engineer the app except where the law allows it.
6. Free service and limits
SakeSake is currently free. Some features have limits, such as a number of Deep IDs per month, which we may change. If we ever introduce paid features, we'll describe the price and terms before you buy anything.
7. Our property
The Service, including the app, design, SakeSake name and logo, and the catalog as a compiled database, belongs to SakeSake and its licensors. These terms don't give you any right to use our name or logo. Third-party names, brands and labels shown in the app belong to their owners and are used only to identify their products.
8. Third-party services
Signing in with Apple or Google, and the app stores you download SakeSake from, are covered by those companies' own terms. We aren't responsible for third-party websites the Service links to.
9. Ending your account
You can stop using SakeSake and delete your account at any time in the app. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the Service or other people at risk, and we may change or discontinue the Service. If we discontinue it, we'll try to give you notice.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, SakeSake won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
12. Indemnity
If you use the Service in breach of these terms or the law and that causes a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, to the extent the law allows.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located there, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the date above, and for significant changes we'll let you know in the app before they take effect. If you keep using SakeSake after that, the new terms apply.
